Original Incident Report

On or about July 2, 1947, rancher W.W. Brazel discovered debris on the Foster Ranch, 75 miles northwest of Roswell, Lincoln County, New Mexico. Initial military response by 509th Bomb Group, Roswell Army Air Field resulted in recovery of materials and issuance of press release confirming "flying disc."

Press release was retracted within 24 hours and replaced with weather balloon cover story per orders of General Roger Ramey, Eighth Air Force, on direction from Pentagon.
